Refreshment

refreshmentRefreshment is feature-length screenplay about how Coca-Cola renames the nation of Mexico, and what happens when it does.

After a long career, Merle Gray is in line to become the next CEO of The Coca-Cola Corporation. But before he can take the top spot, Merle has to pull off the most audacious marketing ploy in history—renaming an entire country after Coca-Cola. To do so, he must leave the corridors of power for the underworld, to negotiate with Mexican drug cartels, ambitious mercenaries, overprivileged addicts and even Pepsi lawyers. In the end, Merle redraws the map of the world, with a naming-rights deal for the ages. But it costs him his son, and ultimately, his life.

Refreshment was named a semi-finalist in the 2010 American Zoetrope Contest.
